This is a 60 year old female patient who underwent a previous Rhinoplasty with another surgeon in the 1980s. That surgeon performed a traditional “Closed” Rhinoplasty and incorrectly over-resected the lower lateral cartilages. Over time, soft-tissue contraction collapsed her nasal valve and created the pinched look you see around her nasal tip. The patient also suffered from chronic nasal obstruction and snoring. Arrows show areas where the lower lateral tip cartilages have been over-resected. Dr. Slupchynskyj performed an Advanced Open Rhinoplasty and harvested auricular cartilage grafts to be used as alar batten grafts which re-supported the lower lateral cartilages and opened her nasal valve. Patient’s breathing ability is restored and snoring has been eliminated.
