RHINOPLASTY SURGERY
Oleh Slupchynskyj, MD | Facial Plastic Surgeon
There are two common approaches to changing the nose. The internal Rhinoplasty approach and the external Rhinoplasty approach. The nose is made up of three parts -- cartilage, bone and tissue. The tip is made up of cartilage and tissue only!. The tip can be squeezed, pinched, wiggled, and moved around quite easily. This is because it is primarily cartilage and tissue (Your ear is primarily cartilage) This makes it one of the most difficult surgeries for even the best surgeon. The nose can be adjusted by mere millimeters and still make it look different. Because it is such a complicated surgery I choose to approach the nose through the external approach. With the tip of the nose open I can better identify the internal structures - especially those that give tip support... or lack of it! hape that results from this surgery is expected to last a lifetime and regrowth of bumps and deformities corrected by the operation is a rare occurrence.

| External Rhinoplasty - incisions |
External approach requires a small incision underneath the nose in the small area between the nostrils. We call this the columella. The incision heals such that is is not even noticed. |

External Rhinoplasty - Exposing deviated septum (right side of nostril) |
External rhinoplasty surgery gives the best visibility to internal structures. |
